It's very fru strating to lose a card, especial ly if you have been doing go o d . After a few ye ars I fo und th e best is to buy or make a card holder that fits o n th e tank. A trip to the local fabric sh op got me the vinyl a nd the ve l cr o . Naugahyde would p r obably work better but is more ex pensive. I borrowed my wife 's sewin g machine and went at it. A coup le o f h o urs la ter I h ad a sco re card holder , which I taped to my tank. J ust lift th e pocket up an d there is th e card , ready for th e checker. I say slip o n but th ey actually pound on. Th ey ar e designed so the avera ge rider can ins t all the m at ho m e if he has 'access t o (1) A freezer (2) An oven (3) a big lead hammer. Th e free zer is t o st o re your shocks fo r one hour, the ove n is to heat the coolers for one ho ur , and t he big lead hammer is the fo rce to drive the coo lers on the sh oc k. First ste p is to strip the paint off t he lo wer p art of the shoc k below t he spring perc h. On Boge shocks you have to file or grin d the wel d flush with the shoc k b ody so the co ol ers will slip right on. Some Boge shocks are sligh tly out of ro und, bu t ca n still be made to fit after a little effort with the hammer. Best wa y is to use a hydraulic pres s t o put th em on, b ut if o ne is not available the hammer will work j ust fine. Using gloves or tongs, remove a sh ock and a co o ler fro m their respective c o o l i n g a n d w arm i n g p laces an d immediate ly clamp the shock into a sturdy vise . Lin e the h o t cooler over t he shock, making sure the flat part of th e cooler is in line wi th the shock eyes . and start pounding. Try t o keep t he blows even so th e co oler won ' t ge t off-cocked, Keep hitting un ti l y o u have th e cooler in place , usually down to the spring perch . It works just as well as the old on es, t o o . wh ich is pretty good, especially if yo u do n' t kno w how t o use ti re iro ns without pinch in g a tube. That so unds reaso nable , becau se the only rims I've ever fo un d it not to work on are the ki nd that have little drops of weld in side t o act as tire be ad grippers . This new solid Bree zer transmits more sh.fc k from the impact o f th e hammer used to hit it aro un d th e rim , turnin g one 's palm to pu lp .
