By John Ulrich Before the tragic 250 GP accide nt that hospitalized him with broken bo nes, racer Ron Pierce talked about the new "foe-bar" (parallelogram) rear suspension Kawasaki KR750. Having j ust retu rn ed wide-ey ed fro m a practice sessio n on the new bike, Pierce excitedly rattled off to his pit crew. "It's incredible! It feel s lik e you've go t no suspension at all - no t becau se it's rou gh , but because it's just perfec tly ' level all th e time. Th ere isn 't any weight tra ns fer , no wheelies, n o any t hing. It ju st handles fan ta st ic. The bumps I feel o n the 25 0 aren't eve n there on the 75 0 ." Asked by a by st an der wheth er or not he co uld feel wh en the re ar tire was on th e lim it of tractio n (about to let go) wit h the n ew suspe n sion sy stem, Pierce reported, " It's go t a lo t of fe el. " I wish my 25 0 han dled this good," Pier ce co ntin ued. "Yo u can go into and ar ound a com er fast er . and get o n the gas earlier . No w I' m all bum med out because I don't have one."
