There were about 19 0 riders on the
seco nd day which saw the two best rides
of the mee t : one by Sammy Hol1an d
and the other by Rich Eierstadt.
In the 125 Expert Hollan d, a lo cal
favo rite and called "a wee bit berserk"
by so me, was knocked down in th e first
tum , go t up dead last and by the
hal fway flag had worked his way up to
10 th o ut of a 45 man field. On the 10 th
lap he was again kn ock ed do wn an d
a l most lapp ed b y th e lead er , Broc
Glover . He th en proceeded to wo rk up
to 12t h . Glo ver h ad led fro m the first
t urn and fini shed wit h a 20 second lead
o n th e second pl ace m an , Dave Eropki n .
In the second moto Holland just
walked away from the pack. The real
race was Glover, Mike BeI1 the CMC No.
One plate holder, and Eropkin battling
to get a shot at Hol1and. Suddenly on
the sixth lap Glover went off the track,
BeI1 took ove r second and Eropkin
moved in to t hird . Glover got back going
in a h urry and passed Eropkin by the
first tum.
Meanwhile Holland was totally
de vastating the field and had built up a
23 seco n d lead. Then on the 16th lap of
20 on th e ba ck straigh t he broke one of
his shocks. It seemed h is be rsc r kin ' ways
had caught up wit h him an d he was ou t
of the race .
Bell was now t he lead er, Glo ver an d
Ero pki n in sec o nd and th ird; and Roc ky
Pocock , w ho had a six th in th e first
moto , was starting to work his way up
from 10th. At the finish less than two
se conds separated the first three
fin ishers. Pocock mo ved up to fo urth
for the checkered flag.
In the 250 Expert Jeff J en nings of
Norwalk m ad e t w o steady
co me-from-behind rides of the day. He
mo ved co nsiste n tly fr o m 16 th to second
in the firs t mo to and 12 th to t hird in
the second to place second overall. Dave
