Yamah a th at was in front. " Fas t Eddie"
San Roman rounded out the field with
third . Art J unker didn 't have Dylan to
con ten d with on the sh o rt track and
topped Mike Allen and Ro ger Dufur to
take th e gold .
Dylan pulled o ne out of th e hat in
th e Open Novice half-mile , Ron Shee ts
was o ut o n top an d real ly built himsel f
qu ite a lead , but he m ad e a mi st ake a n d
Dyl an was righ t there to take advan tage
of it.
Kell y Dunagan did it better th an
anyone els e in th e 25 0c c Novice sh ort
tr ack and it was a ra ce th at h ad m ore
ch an ges than a wo man 's m ind. When it
was over, it was Bria n Theunisscn
secon d an d Mik e De Bruy n third. Bo b b i
Hunter p roved ch ival ry is n ot d ead, she
to ok a p retty good fal l during th e m ain
and yo u sho uld have see n th e guys rush
to her aid. She bounced back pretty
good though and to ok thi rd o n th e
half-mil e. It was Fran k Tumbiol a 's race
a ll th e way with Brian Theunissen
co llec ting an other second.
Robert Chapek was ano ther Harley
winner, bu t on a sligh tly lar ge r one th an
Don Tort ore lli 's 12 5cc. Bob led th e
Open Novice hal f-mil e fro m st art to
fin ish an d gave the Ex pe rts running in
th e class a bit o f a work o ut . Ray Lovell
an d Pa tri ck Dobbins we re secon d and
third.

The sp ectacular p ile-up in the 125
class o n the downhill just after the fir st
turn was the topper . Bikes and riders

Kenny Zahrt (Bul ) cleaned house in
the 5 0 0 Expert class, with Dave Hau gh
(Mai) running a clos e secon d , Don Dr az
(Bul) third. Will Harper (Mai) t ook
home th e win in th e 25 0 Expert di visio n
over J oe Root (Oss) and Jeff Blix (Bu l).
Hondas ruled in the 125 Expert event
with TIm Lunde taking first, Mike Pillar
second, and Jim Hale th ird.

" Ch ief or the Dunes " half-time ra ce .
Each week, AME alternates running

Paul Christensen claimed th e title
beating out Mike Rena. Third went to
Mike Nation ab oard a Rokon, one o f
th e st ra ngest dirt bikes around, n o
clutch an d a pull starte r !

Triumph dominated, with T im Harris on
a Trackmaster Ro ach taking the win.
