A new "close-up" measuring standard of 110 dbA at 20 inches from the pipe will be used, instead of the old 92bdA at 50 feet. Tests conducted by MIC and the California Highway Patrol indicate the ne w dose-up standard is equivalent to the old 50-foot standard and is less likely t o yield readings fouled up by wind and weather cond it ions.
