Neil MacDannald from Keyes, and Billy Woods and jimmy McCracken from Fresno, were some of the pros compe ting in th e Open clas s. . On e of the mos t exciting ra ces of th e day was th e 125 Pros. Bob Stem from Orange, California ch allenged cen tral and northern California Pro s to th e ultima te in sp ee d, endurance an d agili ty . In th e two heats, Bob pulled the hole sh ot, an d hel d an eve r expanding lead. Sam my Holland of Hu ro n just co uldn 't keep up with the self confident Stem. Dennis and Steve Brand fro m Oakhurst, as well as Hen ry Leslie fro m Man teca, Scott Karl fro m Selm a, an d Milan Garrett of Fresno, put on a show that had the crowds on their fee t. The c in ch er was when the four came off Razor-Back side -by -side . Everyone in the cro wd went bananas. It looked like Bob Stem was going to give all comers a black eye.
