Connie Nunez, 23, is road racer Jeff Steele 's girlfriend. But more
than the " do m estic trips, like cook and clean and all that dumb girl
stuff" asso ciated with that assignmen t, Connie likes monkeying
around on the Steele Brothers' sidehack, working on Jeff's 750
Production bike, and collecting owls.
" I can change the counter sprocket all by myself, and the jets,
and the plugs. I don't need any supervision fo r that stuff. But with
engine work .. . well, I can put the top en d together by myself. I
just have to remember not to forget any o-rings, I'm really bad about
that.
" It started when I got tired of sitting in the house by myself
while Jeffery was out in the garage working on his bike . So I'd go
out in the garage and keep him company. Then I got tired of sitting
there watching, so I started to do it. It makes time go by faster.
"He takes forever when he 's working on his bike, and puts in a lot
of staring time. I tease him about th at. 'It's not going to run right
because you didn't pu t in enough staring time. That mak es it go fast,
gives it five mph on the top end. ' ..
Connie 's ambition away from motorcycling and hacking is to be
in Penthouse. "I guess I'm an exhibitionis t, n she explains. HI fit
