Tony DiStefano (3 ) he ld off J im Weine rt in th e f irst mota, bu t a second mota crash de tuned the Pistol f ro m Bristol. off a har d charging Croft fo r the re maining seve n laps . Doug Sherman cam e o ut of the pack in t he second m o ta to grab the lead at th e start . Mosier was st uck back in fo urth be hin d Clar k and Croft , but was applying a lot of pressure in trying to get by. Mosier finally got aro und Clar k an d was off afte r Sherman an d Croft who we re o ut hav in g their o wn little battle for th e lead . Croft di d a great j ob o f holding off the Maico rider an d was able to hold his o w n o n th e st ra ights, but was o u t-braked in the t ight, twisty stu ff . On th e third to last lap Mosier too k ove r sec on d for good and set out after Sh erman. By the secon d to the las t lap he was clo sing and a t the flag, if th ere had been 20 more yards, it would have been a victory for Mosier. As it was Sherman took the win. Bruce Baron came back from two trouble plagued m o tos to control the last race complete ly. Croft and Mosier resumed their battle for the second position, but in th is m o t a Croft had so me tro u ble s taying on his bike and spen t most of h is ti me m akin g up what he los t crashing. By the en d of th e m o ta Mosier caugh t up to Bar on but was n o t ab le to pass. Croft, recover in g trom hIS last crash was o nly ab le to make it fou rth leaving third place to Bill Ru bl y . Mosier's first and two seconds gave him the overall fo llowed by Croft and Sherman. 125 HMX Experts Final Looking all the world like they had Rich Th orwaldso n (11) and J im West (28 x) pl ayed top ten tag in two motos and t he n go t down to bu sine ss in the f in al. majored in berserko and minored in cross-u p the High School 125 Experts were off an d ru n n ing fo r their final race du ring in termission, A second comer crash eliminated about half of the pack a nd p ossib ly accounte d for J ohn Smith's big lead. David Tay lor and Brock Grover we re do ing mos t of the racin g as they battled ba c k and fo rth right down t o the wire. At the flag Tayl or p ulled o u t a half a bi ke len gth to ta ke secon d behind Sm ith. Powder Puff Invitational Af ter many hassles and threats of legal ac tio n the 10 women who were inv ited to race at the Superbowl were o ff and running. Sue Fish pulled out a big lead at the st a rt over second pl ace and current number one National woman rider, Teri Kezar. It was rather apparen t th at Fish had the course wired as she led the entire race and was never really challenged for the lead.
