His style was way off and most of his rides ended up with him on the ground. He only got into two Handicap Mains in a dozen, getting a fourth and a sixth. His poor showing moved him back into Second Division, but only for one night, as last week Guy ran away with the D-2 race. He got moved back to First Division this week and worked his way into the Handicap Main. He came to the starting line with the overall point leader, Mike Bast, and Bobby Schwartz the leader in Handicap wins. Guy started in front and at the end of five laps took the checkered flag, the cheers, the go ld and for those of us that know him. a good warm feeling. Steve Bast moved into a two-way tie for total wins in Scratch Mains. His victory Tuesday night at Ventura was the eleventh this season. (Mike Bast is the other half of the tie.] Division Two honors were carried off by Fred Sidner, That 's a name you might put in the back of your mind. This young man moves through traffic like a pro. Again some of the biggest names in Speedway were on hand to give their expert assistance in running the show. Mike Bast was the official referee. Dean York is still King of the Scratch Main . For the fourth straight week Dean has beaten them all. Ron Rose took the six-man, five lap Division Three Main , winning not o nly the trophy and prize money, b ut one of speedway's biggest supporters. Ida Fairchild, do nated a home made cake. Craig Schaffer from the ten yard line was challenged several times by Russ Duronslet in the Handicap Main but at the end of the five laps the win went to Schaffer.
