Results in Results Section. >.n r- MacMurray scores secon d Scrat ch Main at Expo Cl By Sneaky Pete 00 >-- SACRAMENTO, CAL.,jUNE 13 ~ -., After missing a transfer to either Main last week, Reno 's Rich MacMurray topped the scratch field tonight, winning his second Scratch Main in three weeks ahead of j ohn Cunningham , Dale Stetler and Barclay Trehal. With seven wee ks now in the record books, MacMurray has had six Scratch Main starts. Mart y Benck en ded the 'over t he hi ll" gro up's win streak (The Nevada riders had five st ra ight Handicap Main wins in a ro w .) by winning his first Handicap Main o f the season here. Second an d third wen t to jerry Baugh and J ay De Beaubien who along with Benck, started on the 20 . Th e seco nd division is no longer looking fo r a two time winner. Jeri Wol fe made it two straight D-2 Main wins with the two /three spots going to Don Lo veless and Dan McConnell. Returning to Speedway afte r a week off with assor ted ac hes and p ains, Bru ce Haserot again goes back on the 'walking wo unded' list. The injury this time is a broken foot that will sideline him for several weeks. Bruce is o ne of only a very few riders still co mpeting o ut of the o riginal group that brought Speedway back to the U.S. several years ago . In ano ther crowd pleasing show, it was jimmy Sizemore winning the j unio r Speedway Main ahead of fast closing Brian Thompson and Steve Lucero. Under t he watchful eye of referee Fre d Sp en cer, Lucero was ca ught in a 'roller' and ca me up from the 50 fo r h is third place finish .. Resul ts in Resul ts Section. First weeks of Speedway Centr al HAN FORD, CAL. ,jUNE 16 After wrapping up three weeks of speedway racing at the Kings District Fairgrounds in Hanford, Speed way Central took a one week break in the action du ring fair t ime . The Class A Speedway trac k opened May 23 to an enthusiastic crowd, who for the mo st par t were watch ing Sp eedway fo r the first t im e . Riders fro m the San J oaquin Val ley surprised everyone that nigh t as they dom in a ted all th e important races and eventually walked off with both the Scratch and Handicap Mains. The valley riders' su ccess made a big hi t with t he fans and t hey returned in n ot i c e abl y greater numbers the foll owing week only to witness the " o ut of to wners" from So uthern Califo rn ia returning with a vengeance. Revenge they go t as they turned the tables on the valley men in some extremely high pressure r acin g. By this ti me, favorites were already beginni ng to surface. Bobby Hill, who is now riding fo r Adolph So usa o ut of Bakersfield, gave the crowd so me real thrills with his flamboyant style. He also did a flamboyant number in tum two which bent his co llar bo ne for t he seventh time. J ack Martin of Hanford is enjoying h is first speedway season and has alrea dy proven him sel f agai nst seasoned vete ra ns . M artin has a smooth , p redic t ab le style and won his first Han d icap Main off the 20 . Grant Sa lyers of Taft is another newcomer th at has ge nera te d some: exci te m en t.
