Don Jones (background) admires his latest creation, the prototype 250cc Islo. The whole Jones Motocross crew is released from its
Can-Am ob ligations and going full-blast on the updated Cooper (?) Aztec (?) Islo (?) -uh- what ARE you going to call it, Don?
Heart of the 355cc prototype that the Jones Boys
will campaign ("snake" pipe an' all) in the TransAMA. It's basically the 250 case un it with a big
upper end. The cylinder and head shown are pretty
much sand-east originals .
Prototype hub and back plate, Don "whittled"
from stock - "To keep the boys from break in'
up wheels." With stra ight-pull spokes both sides
for strength and fat igue resistance, the assembly
is lighter than it looks, and well sealed,
both sides.
Both ignition coil and COl "black box " reside in
the airbox. A flat piece of air filter foam goes over
the top opening under the seat to keep everything
calm, cool , dry . Volume is ample.
