The half-mile win went to Mike TIdwell with Perkins and Jenkins second and third. Mike picked up another win in the 250cc Expert short track where he found more than his fair share of competition from Ascot's number one Junior, Dan McWhorter. Fortunately , or unfortunately, Dan was having his own problems from Jim Redding who came from behind and got right into the thick of t hings . In the 250cc Expert Twin half-m ile Mike had to contend with the othe r h alf of the McWhorter team, little brother, TIm. Tim was in Mike's hip pocket, specifically the right one since Gordie Kidd was using the le ft. Around lap fo ur Mike started to pull away an d left the hassling to Gordie and Tim. Ti m got the nod but not before these three fine riders p roved why they are considered among the best in California. Gordie almost pulled it off on the 500cc Expert half-mile and held both Tim and Mike until that fatal lap where Tidwell found the hole and was home free. Gordie got th e second place slot, and Tim third. Dorothy Rowe came out and proved why she is one of the finest 250cc Experts around as she socked it to the fellas in the 250ce Expert Single half-mile.
