'BAKER /LIN DSTROM 1IVIN BAiA 500. HONEST
~
Baja, A hot dusty day in June. 380 entries
hoping to conquer the land , 65 motorcycles,
29 in the open class.
Al Baker moved from 19th position to
take the lead 100 miles out and Gu nna r
Lindstrom, riding the second half of the race,
held the lead to win their class .
Their modified Honda XL-350 covered
390 miles in smooth four-stroke style. So smooth
and depend ab le that Baker and Lindstrom
claimed they weren't even tired at the end ,
Over 50,000 spectators saw the riders
handle the hazards of unexpected cows,
cliffs, fog and eight hours of jolting and
jarring terrain .
But the names Baker; Lindstrom and
Honda were heard in the end. Taking the open
class in Baja. And then some.
