II 250 Junior were in a three-way tie for
the grand prize with four firsts each.
The tie was broken by counting laps led
totals, giving Rohrer the bike but
resulting in another tie for second prize.
This one was broken by counting laps
led in the last moto . Hansen got the
leathers and Anderson the boots.
The lAM Regional Championship,
run concurrently with the CMC
National for the two days, was not
exactly over-run with entrants. Many of
the riders did not want to spoil their
chances at the big prizes by subjecting
their bikes to the additional four motos,
The 100 Junior, 125 Intermediate, and
250 Junior Schoolboy classes were run
together, starting in waves.
The "big" race on both days was the
250 Expert. MacDannald is 'n o t a hole
shot man. He was in from third to
eighth position going into the turn each
time, but managed to whiz by those in
front of him, in all but one moto when
he could not get by Kevin Henry (BuI).
Henry had a third and a second place
finish the first day, then topped that off
with a first and third on the second day
to give him second money in the class .
Third place cash went to Dave Longcor
(Hus) for his second, seven t h, third and
second finishes. The four 250 Expert
motos were great crowd pleasers, full of
action .and place swapping.
The 125 Experts didn't do too badly
at crowd pleasing either. Local favorite,
Danny (Magoo) Chandler (Hon), led the
first moto all the way from hole shot to
checkered flag. The second moto was
another hole shot to start with but a
crash put him back to nearly last.
Before that race was over he had
worked his way back to fourth and
went into the second day and the third
moto with five points.
The third moto proved to be his
downfall. A series of tough breaks and
he was down two laps for a 16 th place
finish in that one, and then for a
comeback in the fourth moto another
first. Magoo ended up with third money
for his efforts.
First wen t to Kevin Henry (Bul ) who
finished second the first time out,
working up from a bad start. Jim
Lesniewski (Hon) led the second moto
until the fifth lap when he crashed and
Henry moved in for the win. Henry
followed up the second day with a third
and a second for eight total points.
Second overall for 12 points went to Pat
Wilson who ran at the front of the pack
but not quite close enough to first in all
four motos with a fifth, a second, a
