VOLUME 57 ISSUE 24 JUNE 16, 2020 P25 Comoto Holdings To Pay $1.93 Million Fine C omoto Holdings, the parent company to Revzilla, Cycle Gear and J&P Cycles, will pay a $1.93 million fine to the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for the alleged sale of non-exempted add-on/modified motorcycle parts in California. "We take the sale of uncerti- fied parts seriously as it can lead to significantly higher emissions that impact the health of California residents," said CARB Executive Officer Richard Corey. "It is also unfair to the vast majority of manu- facturers who comply with clean air requirements." According to a release by CARB, "Retailers and distributors must ensure the parts they sell have been evaluated by CARB prior to sale and proven not to reduce the effectiveness of the emission- control system. Such parts replace or modify vital original equip- ment emissions components and manufacturer-designed engine-op- erating conditions. Modifications to the engine and emissions control systems of motorcycles can lead to significantly higher smog-forming emissions and adversely affect public health." The company has agreed to comply with all applicable regula- tions and will pay a total settle- ment of $1,937,500. Half of the funds will benefit two Supple- mental Environmental Projects: $615,598 will be paid to the Coachella Valley Mitigation Proj- ect Extension 2018 – 2023; and $353,151 to the Placer County Community Based Supplemental Environmental Project – Phase 2. Both projects will use these funds to install and maintain high-performance air filtration systems in schools located in communities impacted by air pollution. The remaining $968,750 will be deposited into the California Air Pollution Con- trol Fund. CN CARB has just handed down a monster fine to Comoto Holdings. No KTM Adventure Rider Rally This Year D ue to the ongoing challenges of Covid-19, the 2020 KTM Adventure Rider Rally has been canceled. With the health and safety at the forefront of priorities for both attendees and staff, organizers felt it was a necessary action. Despite the cancelation, KTM North America, is keeping its focus on the launch of new motorcycles, like the KTM 390 Adven- ture and supporting its dealers as the weather becomes prime for riding season. CN KTM pulled the plug on its annual Adventure Rider Rally.
