The trio fou ght it out until the fmish line with Williams taking the win. Round Two found Marty Moates in the lead for one lap before Mike Bell block-passed him in the fourth tum. Williams, who was in third, moved into second when Moates temporarily dropped out with bike problems. John Tessitore (Han) moved into third after coming up from fifth place at the start. Bell took the win after opening up a fair sized lead over second placing Dave Williams. Tessitore came in thi rd while Tony Wanket (Han) ended up fourth. Bob Hannah (lIus) continues to show great style as he won the 250 Pro class . with second and first place finishes. Hannah worked his way up after being in 10th place at the start of each race. Jeff Jennings (Bul), who won the first round, missed taking the win when he endoed off a jump in race two. Steve Rhyan [Mai] won th e first mota in the 250 Intermediates without too much trouble. Rhyan moved into first place o n lap two after being second off the line at the start. Mike Palheeyi (CZ) took second place after battling it out earlier in the race with third placing Dave Potts (Mai). Jeff Wenzel, who finished fourth in the first moto , took the win in ra ce two after Steve Rh yan took a spectacular tumble while leading. Joe Bonnello (Bul ) finished second and Mike Palheeyi turned in third for second overall. Bill Rubly took every overall in CMC 's 500 Pro class this week. He won at Ascot, Irwindale and today at Carlsbad. In the first mota Rubly 17141547·1411 17141547·7391 finished third and in the second race he took second and the overall win. Rich Thorwaldson (Mai) finished with a second and a third to take second overall while Mark Blackwell's (Hus) two fourths earned him third overall. • Results in Results Section. McPherson does a job at Elsinore By And i Gangewer ELSINORE, CALIF ., MAY 10 Thirteen 250 Novice riders showed up to hotly contest one of the largest classes seen here in quite some time. Pau l McPherson (Yam ) was lo o king good as he led the pack to take the first place honors in the first heat. The second heat was challenged and conquered by another Yamaha rider, Wayne Rich. These two "hot ones" transfered directly to the main. The semi was picked off b y John Luck also on a Yamaha. In the 250 main, the Yamaha's of McPherson, Rich and Pryor Campbell slid into the top three spots for a fine showing. The Special Novi ce class, which is any Novi ce rider on - any size bike, was a repeat of the 25 0 'N ovice semi. John Luck (25 0 Kaw ) rode like a cham p to cross the finish line in front of Steve Loomis (25 0 Yam) and Gordon Stentz (25 0 Suz). Ariza 's James Throne has been making quite a name for himself at Elsinore. He proven to be a threat in th e Spe cial Expert class, as he too k three wins on a mighty l\laico 440. Steve Miller slipped his big 650 Yamaha in behind Throne for the second place while Gary Kauffeld and his 360 Yamaha had to settle for the third. • Results in Results Section.
