Mike Sprenger surprised no one by jumpin g out into the lead wit h buddy Mike Webb in second an d a newcomer, Joe Rezendes running third while g e t t i n g used to the terrain. Webb eventually dropped from com p eti tio n while Rezendes kept a con sist en t pace an d caught the leader a t the halfway point. He co uld only ho ld th e -lead fo r one lap , though, as his throttle wasn't working rigb t and he had to settl e for ' second over Mike Kelley who barely nudged out Jeff Bramlett. Jeff Hallock led out a slim field of 125 s an d appeared to be o n h is way t o some easy pickings as his brother Mark was goi ng to help for awhile. Mark still su ffers from a blood cl o t in th e arm , but has be en given a doctors release to t ry an d work j t o u\.., . Vanderpool t ook aw ay second from th e Lake /Faltersack team o n lap 11 and from that p oint, the nationally rated a d orn an d the ISDT rider pulled far ahead so th at by lap 28, they h ad lap p ed th e en ti re .fiel d.
