After leading through th e p its, Wrigh t raced back out to th e smoke bom b along with all of th e Novices, a ft er th e Novice start was delayed fo r close to an hour. The reas o n fo r the de lay was th at so meo ne not even in vo lved with th e race cra she d, th c a m b ulance took hi m to the h o spi t al and the Novice start had to be del ayed u n t il it returned. Ti m Bowman , w ho took several firsts in t he 175 Expert class las t year, ran a distant second to Wrigh t , with a big lead over th ird place. Bo wman , like Wright, rides a 400 m o no-shoc k Yam ah a. In fact, the firs t fo ur 400 Experts rode th em, including Terry Davis third Open Expert, a nd Smokebomb Gaet z fourth . Br y a n Bec ker has not ridden a District 37 race fo r quit e so me time , but he sure has not forgo tten how to ride a Har e Scramb les. Becker was back ab o u t 3 0 th at th e bomb, worked his way up to 10th on t he first loo p. O n th e second loop Beck er wen t on to pass Bob Balentin e, Bru ce Ogilvie, Larry Roeseler an d Doug Win ch ell, am ong others, to fin all y fini sh th ird o verall, fir st 25 0. Balentine was m ade to settle for fourth overall, second 250 , while th e 25 0 Harley SX riders , Ogilvie and Ro esel er, ba ttled fo r fi ft h and sixth overall.
