The Open Seniors was a tight race for one an d two. J im Fouts pulled number one by a mere 2 7 points, Mr. Fouts p u lle d a superb wheelie , too, at the ch ec ke red fla g o f th e third moto , but something went wrong. The bike kept on going. flipped o ff dO"TI the track and left Fouts on his ba ckside, just as though he'd sat down for a rest! Randy Wing ca m e out number o ne in the wi nner -take-all money race . Barne y Ne w man's Husky quit in ·p rac t ic e so h e rode Ron Long's newly ac q u ired Maico , In the first moto he was p ushing for th e lead when the thro ttle cable pulled out . By this time the Husky was going so he finished o n it for a disq u alificati on. He won the second moto and was o ut front by hal f a hip in the third when the lIusky went cold wi th h alf a lap to go. Brad Lecklider (C-A) finished second overall. The first moto start was del aved while he replaced the o il wh ich he 'discovered in a puddle beneath h im while he was on the line.
