The real battle in this moto was fo r third as three rid e rs, Do n Davis. Beatie 1\lurphy and Gary Mo rris fought for the position . Davis was at a disadvantage. though , as hi s expansion chamber had come off. The th ree riders con tinued their duel the last half of the mo to never le tting off.
