Sticky advice Recen tly th e city of Marysville rec eived funds fro m the Green Sticker Program. With th is mo ney there ar e plans to build a cycle park in the river bottoms between Marysville and Yuba City . Ou r ftrm will be inv olve d in the planning of this p ar k. Th er e are p rop osed plan s for two tracks: a junior motocross tr ac k an d a senior m o tocross track. Being a racer m y self (400 CZ); I would like to see th is par k ge t off to a good st art, by having th e track layou ts done by someone known for good track design, like Gary Baile y . Or perh ap s you could recommend someone else who co uld do a go o d job. Work will be beginning soon, so it is very im po rtan t that 1 co n trac t someone as soon as possible. Superstars? Pan 3 , page 10 ), I stumbled upo n a bit of information, o n the ABC-TV " Supe rstars Trials." Since then I've done quite a bit of thinking about getting a top flight motocross racer in the "Su perstars Trials." It seem s to me that at the tune of 15 th ousand dollars, th e pri ce is right fo r o ne of our ent e rprisi ng pro mot io n /o rga n izat ion bo d ies . I Motorcy clist s must make a stand for th eir ri ghts or o ur sp o rts will cease t o exi st . Af t er all, we do pay licensing fees to use public lan ds. The Sierra Club has alre ady wo n man y battles against us, th e m ost recent an d im portant one, th e ap po intme nt o f o ne of th eir members as head of the state 's Rescources Agen cy. Wh o cares? Hopefully yo u, as this age ncy advises o thers as to the im pact of recreation al veh icles on th e envi ro n me nt. Agencies wh ich distribute our " Green Sticky Moneys " t o the parks in tu rn are told by the Resources Agency as to the supposedly negative im pact o f veh icles to th e p arks en vimoment. Ho w can we fight th em? N o t easi ly v'as public o pinion is already on their side, . no one wants the environment ruined. and motorcycles d o cause a certain am oun t of damage. Ken Partridge's letter of January 2 1, 19 75 seemed practical. If the AMA 's 200,000 members would become active members of the Sierra Club , we co uld control the club and use its already established influence to bring ab ou t changes we des perately need. If we don't act quickly we may lose the battle before we eve n begin to fight. Yo u ask who cares? I do, an d I hope y ou can honestly say you do a10. Or else the battle is already lost. MIKE HA GEN Chico , Calif. Reply to Randy Hoffman I am sorry you were unable to attend the riders' meeting of January 25 for the High School MX at Ascot Par k. It was at this meeting the riders were asked to ride the tr ack for three laps, and t o check ou t a turn that had been changed. The TV cameras used the three laps t o get coverage for the introduction of the TV show, an d the riders used the three laps to check out t he changed co rn er. As everyone expecte d, the riders "cooled it " an d thanked us later. In the ftrst in oto a rider broke his bike. The other two riders in his class, the 125cc Exp ert race, were asked if it would be OK for him t o ride another bike . The riders said OK. This same thing happened to another rider in the sec ond moto. Again the riders were asked and OK'd a bike change. The riders were asked how t hey felt points should be given for t h is race. All three riders felt it fair to give equal points to each entry. As the riders suggested, equal points were given. In all classes the riders we re asked how they wanted to ru n their race, JIM MANN IN G Director o f High School MX Gardena, Calif. Letter fo rm Fo llo wi ng is a copy of le tt er sent to Mr. H.
