J ust t hen they saw someone running down the beac h towards th em. "Someone is running down th e beach towards us," sta ted Tom . "Yes, so meone is run nin g down the beach to wards us, " ra m ble d Ned. " /t 's Mo Davidson, now y o u 'll have to te ll him ," narrated Ne d. "Hello. boy s," greeted Mo . " I jus t came to t ell you that you do n't have to re-de s ign a m otor c rosse r t o re-vol ut io nize mo tocross. I went ov er and talked to Wallace Harley an d we decided to make a deal ," shuffled Mo. "We hav e this idea which will make th e m otorcy cl ist mee t and im press ne w people. It will be the greatest th ing to happ en to mo torcy cles. " " Sounds like a slic k idea," sai d T om, ru nni ng his hand through his hair. " What will you call it? The plan s for the Goodyear Motor Sports Club and its objective of tea mi ng raci ng and its fans in an attack on fuel wa st e and unsafe driving co nditions were reveale d at a press co nference here. Pilliod said the club is expected to have 100,000 members in its first y ear , and will p ro vid e fo r a closer rela tions hi p b etween racing people and fans. Dis cuss in g possibl e contributions to c u r r ent m otoring problems, Pilliod no ted , "raci ng has never been based s ole l y on sp eed . It is based on mechan ical efficiency and safety , the very tw o thing s o f concern to motorists today . Motor sp orts has never had a common m eet ing gro und fo r th e fan s and co mp etito rs, " h e said . "We think th at Goodyear , through its in volvem en t in every phase o f the sp o rt , can provide that meeting ground.
