By Tom Blattler

forth wi th Ramona taking the overall
victory with 254 points. Upland, who

(30), and Montclair (25).
Powder puff Toby Sweaney , a fine
flattrack and TT rider, captured ' all
three motos for Ramona aboard a
Honda. Lori Collins, a regular for
Ramona, placed second overall o n a
Yamaha followe d by Honda-mounted
Sharon McGee, also from Ramona.

that did m ake it were rewarded by the
host club, SCTA, with a reduced entry
fee of $2 and an op p ortunity to ride an
excellen t trials loop over virgin co un try.
The traction in m ost sections was
excellent.
The most demanding Novice sections
were seven and eight which were
continuous . There were only three
cleans on "seven" and none on section
eight. The kids ' favorite was section
one, an entry into and across a stream, a
tight tum in san d into a mini-forest, and
an 180 degree tum in the trees.
The consensus of opinion after the
meet is that Tolleson will definitely be
the one to be at in the Kid 's "A" class
and that the Kid 's "B" class will be wide
open al though Derreck Bernard has the
firs t win. The second of the three
rounds to determine the state A and B
champions will be held August 24 . This
traction he needed to get his usual hole
shots. In the first moto , he got some
early pressure from Peter Schaffhauser
(Hon) until Schaffhauser trashed his
gearbox in a fall and ceased to be a
threat. Rick Park (Hod) gave chase, but
Price's Honda clearly had a horsepower
advantage and pulled away.
. Next moto saw Price again leading,
with Park back in tr affic, so Price ju st
stretched out his ' lead while Park
eventually worked his way up to
sec ond. Price was too far ahead to
catch.
125 Beginner Joe Feld (Suz) took
ch ar ge o f his class and tied together a
pair of quick firsts in the first two
motos. In the last moto, Feld missed a
berm and dropped back to seve nth
while Bill Pinckard (Suz ) made up for
lost time by seizin g the lead and
stretching it out. Feld was working
through traffic the whole moto , and
when the checkered rolled around, he
h ad gotten back in to seco nd, taking the
overall easily.
