J ay , oil injection has its good p oints pl us its drawbacks. Let's lo o k at one of its good points first. With an enduro bike it is rather nice to be ab le to ride into a gas st ation and have 50 cents of gas p umped in to your tank, fire yo ur bi ke u p a nd m o tor on down the road to the finish check and a tall co ol o ne . Beats hell o ut of having to drain your fo r k tu bes to get some o f that slick stuff cal led oil to m a ke so me p re- m ix o ut o f. Since it looks li ke you have d ecided to ta ke the ligh ts o ff and get down to so me serious trail riding and m ayb e a lit tle bi t of racing, your chances o f breaking so methi ng is alr ea dy in y o ur favor. Now if your bike is a new o ne, it may . be in warranty so chec k wi til yo ur dealer first. If y ou m o d ify you r bike an d it 's still u nde r warran ty you just blew yourself o ut of the tub. Okay, so your bike is n o t covered u nde r warran ty and having the oil pump fail you is one hassle that you do n 't need. You will cut down o n a little weight and one m ore moving part tha t takes horsepower from your engine. The Suzuki, u n like the Yamaha, is a little bit of a hassle to remove the oiler; but remove it you ca n and the following ' step s are the same fo r most all S uz u kis that I know of. The new T:' l 100 and 125 bikes use the same steps as the 250. Pu ll the engine out of your bike, and split the cases, because you have to do so me wel di ng and machining o n the le ft - case ha lf. (Wash your bike first, before wor king on it.] If this is yo ur first time into the lo wer end I recomm en d th at you pic k u p a service manual fro m your deale r for yo ur bike. Cly mers m a kes a good one . As you r deale r said, the left crank bearing is fed by th e o il inject io n sy st em. Th e rig h t bearing runs in the gear box o il o n most Su zukis so we . do n't h ave to worry abo ut it. No w loo k at Fig. 1 an d wel d up the cas e in th is area, th en gri n d it d own just enoug h so th e m ag will cle ar on re-assem bly . No te : If you do n 't weld up th is case y ou will drill right out into dayligh t. Ne x t take a hei gh t gau ge an d pick up the d epth o f the in sid e bea rin g seat .
