Garrett was slowing because of brake problem s and T urner so o n to o k over first place. Castillo was also able t o get by the slowing Montesa for second. Garrett was ab le to h ang o n to third for the rest o f th e ra ce. Garrett again pulled the start in the second mota and was long go ne . Jim Turner was holding down sec ond spo t being pushed by Ron Self (Man), who after another lap got b y Turner for seco n d .
