It was his first D RA Overall win. Shirey (3 60 YZM) h ad things his ow n wav for the duration o f th e 6 6-m ile race. Bill Conroy (400 Hu s) gave Shirey a st iff challe nge all th e w ay, but n eve r got in fr o n t . Back at the bomb, Sh irey h ad already p icked up the lead o ver Morga n Ma lo cc o (3 6 0 Yam ).
