Croft. riding two classes. won the first ro und by abo ut 20 seconds and was closing quickly on Rich Grafton in the second when he hit a p othole and crashed. From 27th posit ion , Croft rewo rked his way all the remaining laps and finis hed wit h a fourth for seco nd o verall . Mean tim e Graft on, wh ose Yamaha ha d igni ti on tro ubles in the first eve nt, ran away and h id fro m Mos ier an d it gave h im enough points for fourth overall, behind Ray Topham (Mai) . The first mota saw both Chuck Sun and Rick Burgett of Oregon in the co ntingent of front runners only to fall ou t with engi ne pro blems .
