Before it started its road racing career by winn ing four consecutive 125 Production races (the first four races it entered in California), Associate Editor John Ulrich's DKW led a varied life. Bought new in January of this year, the bike has survived 12 en duros run in the Californ ia desert, an enduro in th e Sierras above Fresno, Califo rnia, a Russ Darnell motocross school, an SRA Grand Prix , numerous trail and street rides, and ten damaging crashes . At its Califo rnia road racing debut, other racers laughed at the bike and its rider, saying they'd be all set if they ran off the track. At the finish, second place wasn't even in sight . That was August 4, and the bike won the next three, August 11, September 1, and September 8. What will become of Killer Deek when it gets beaten? Maybe a little motocross . . . . g -e- eO"'> ~ '
