Corky Keener was next as his Harley swallowed a valve while in a pack f fifth place riders . Dave Sehl followed two laps later when he found it difficult o ride wi thou t brakes. A few laps further on Bill Schaffer's bike gave up he hunt followed by Gene Ro mero, 00lap 19 with fuel starvation. Rod Bailey opped out on the next go around and lark Williams nursed his Triumph until wo laps fro m the end when it too gave the hun t, Scott breezed to victory but the fight (at least until the final four laps) for cond was much closer as were the: osi tions followi ng. Sehl passed . Rex on lap 18, hel d on fo r two rounds then lost it back to Rex only to pull right back into second on the next lap. Rex dropped Sehl back to third and held for the remaining four laps. Roberts held his fourth with Chuck Palmgren, Don Castro and Denny Palmgren coming by in a pack to fill out the spots to seventh. Ron Moore, john Gennai and Frank Gillespie finished eighth through 10th. Speechless was the word for Hank as he stepped off his bike but the feeling of the occasion soon got the words flowing. Beauchamp, deligh ted that "the track had finally shaped up," was happy wi th his second bu t hoped it would be the last time. Doug Sehl, who blossomed into quite a road racer a year ago. is now doing the same on the mile wi th his Pooles Cycles, Ltd. of Waterdown mount. john lIateley, a little mad at not having a spot in the National led the Trophy run for eight laps. dropped to second behind Steve Morehead, then claimed the win.
