In the first mota, Ric ky won it w ith Mike right behi n d him . In the second Ricky ' W'dS le ad ing until the last lap. With Mi ke le ad ing on th e way t o the c h ec kere d , Ricky wan ted t o win th e sec o nd mota so had, he p ulled a Gerrit Wo lsink at the finish li ne (he cras he d }, but was still be aten out b y Tidwell. In the final m o t o , Mi ke le d the w ay wi th teammate Eddie Lawson b e h in d h im and Naymola third. In the end it was Mike, Ric ky . and Eddie. Dan McWhorter (Ma n) pull ed it off in the 250 Experts over B. Reynolds (Bu!) who to ok seco nd and R. Bird (Ya m ) wh o n e w in for third . And , n o girls , it was not th at B. Even tho ugh Steve Ro sa les (lIo n) and Gary Cain se t t he pace in th e fin al mota. Lu tz al re ady h ad the points an d the win, and Ro sales co ul d do no be tter than a secon d . In th e 25 0 j u n ior s, Tom G rab ava ch (H us) had h is work c ut out for him after he st alled o n the lin e, but h e worked his way up thro ugh the pack an d would have w on had he not go ne down in th e fin al cou p le laps. In the sec o n d mot o , he was on c e again down a few pl aces. b ut he methodically motored his way ar ound the leaders in to fir st a n d th e eventual win. Both o f these guys we re pretty fast to stay on Steve's t ai l a ll th e time. T he y we re so fast, th a t one of the m isn' t go ing to be a Novice anymore . Ge t it , Greg ? In the O pen Novice Sh o r t Track fina l, Terry G riner (Y am) an d Terry Statu m (Y am) both we nt down in th e secon d tum lo c ke d u p together, making for a bad sce ne. Nei ther was h ur t and they were able to make the resta r t. O n the restart, the y ca ugh t john Newquist (Bu l) fla t fo o t ed on the line , a nd blasted aro u n d to take 1-2 respec tively at the c h ec kered . In t h e 2 50 Amateu r/Expe rt half-mile final, it b ec ame a wi ldma n"s race in th e battle for the lea d with Steve Fortune (Ya m ) at constant od ds wit h Troy Fiskter (Ya m ) w h o was searc hing for a n open ing that never c am e.
