Remember way back in April '73 when goo d 01' CN featured the im mortal "Killer Honda?" and promised, in t heir infinite benevolence, to give it away as first prize in yet ano t her squid contest? It never happened, buddy boy! Oh, this wasn't just another turkey project bike. No, the "Killer" was the ultimate. It had the aggregate qualities of the t orque of Mt. Everest, the power of a slightly over-carbureted Tote Gote and the legendary handling of a bookmobile. (Gordon jennings, eat your heart out.] I'm sure both CN subscribers sp en t more than 2 .43 to ensure good 01' CN would continue to arrive weekly so they could be in on the biggie contest. If this is the way you plan to get subscription renewals may a diseased yak leave a present in your Full Bores. Don't try to tell us some nurd staffer stacked up the "Killer" while lapping DeCoster, either. We know the "Killer" lives because it graced the cover of the April 9, 1974 issue of good 01' CN which was disguised as the non-descript "Moto-monthly Magazine." . Starting After being a spectator at the recent short track series held in Oakdale, Calif., I have been left with so me mixed feelings. It is a super short track and the program, on the whole, is well organized. The pro blem seems to be the starter. In my opinion he does not seem to be meeting hi s responsibilities as a District 36 official. He is lac king in consistency and tends to show favoritism towards a few local Expert riders. G ran ted , being a starter is not an easy job, but if you're going to do it, do it right! Give all t he riders the same chance at the line, and help to contribute to a super short track progr am.
