J im Pomeroy finished ahead o f Rex Staten and Pierr e Karsrna kers. Gary Semics ' lead from the sta rt o f round two was short-lived. He ca m e around in 13th place on the second lap . Jimmy Weinert had taken o ver , with Velky and Runyard close in his tracks. By the end of lap three, Velky had moved into first place where he w ould remain for the rest o f the rnoto. Swede Bengt Abe rg (Bu l) had unloaded in the first moto in a tum two pile-up, an d ro u n d two proved to be a co ntinuation of his bad luc k today. Aberg's Bu l shed its chain j ust as he wheeled it into t h ir d place. Wei ne rt g-ave up second p lace to Mike Ru nyard; then Ma rty T ripes and Jim Pomeroy followed Ru nya rd 's example. Weinert he ld off Falta and DeCoster as they came up from behind at th e halfway mar k, but the Europeans crowded past one lap later, leavin g J immy in se venth p lace. The pair then se t t h eir sights on Runy ar d 's Su zuki , wi th DeCoster ge tting by Mike a la p later. Fa lta joined DeC oster a gai n o n the next lap and then p assed the Champ t o move o n Tripes . J im Po meroy, meanwhile , h ad taken secon d p lace six seconds behind the ha u lin g Czech. With t h ree laps to go , Pomeroy slid o u t o n a righth and swee p e r, letting Tripes, Fa lta, an d DeCoster by before he c ould remount to rejoin t he fr ay .
