Soderstorm takes the money at Indio short track By Micky McManus INDIO, CAL.,JUNE 21 Over 1,000 fans watched Charlie Soderstrom do his thing and take home t he bread 'Frida y night at the Indio Fair Grounds Short Track. Charlie's Bultaco led the way as Bob Spicer (Yam) came in a distant second. Marc Jones (Kaw ) of Indio picked up the third p lace money. The IOOrr e lnss was dominated by Yamahas wit h J o ey Morales, Jim Burge Jr., and Eric Pe ttersen taking wi ns in that o rder. The hottest class of the evening was the I 25 s with Arizona State Mini Champ Jimmy Wright wi nning on a Ho nda follo wed by Randy Reynolds and Ch uck Wh eele r, botb on Suzu kis. It to o k Lyle Shroyer (CZ) three heats to qu alify for 'the Main . But when the starter dropped the nag for the heginning of the Main Shroyer led the pack to the che c ke rs. T eddy Gibson (CZ) and Mark Cr awford (Bul ] took second and third place . The Open class saw Randy Reynolds (Su z) come from the 70 penalty lin e to worm his way through the pack to earn a well deserved first over Kenneth Griner (Ya m ) a nd Lou Giminez ( Ya m ).
