Heavy (?) Open GP traffic at Seattle - Mike Casling, Greg McRae, Ken Botham, early in t he race. Northwest road rashers clash, Lind scores triple Knee-high specials sail at Sad By Mike Slaught er ORA:\'GE, CAL.,jULY 7 SEATTLE, WASH .. juxz 3 0 Not co n t en t with his double victory la st month, Bruce Lind scored three victories in today's race. In the GP classes Bruce took honors in both the 125 and 250 classes. His victory in the 350 Production was the hardest fought battle of the day as in each of the two heats Kawasaki -mounted Rick Curiston battled from the bump start to . challenge. Rick was often within inches at the las t tum but in accelera ting out his bike's slower speed was evident. Rick's second in 350 was added to his first in 500 Production. To win the 250 GP Lind had to battle and slipstream down to the last tum of the last lap with Don :\luir. Dorr's efforts fell inches short at the flag and he settled for second while Mike Whittlesey, winner of the first heat, but a troubled sixth in the second, filled the third spot. 1n Open P roduction George Ro ubice k, aboard his super quick Honda, won both his heats eas ily while four stroke freaks were given an ad ditional treat as the first two places in the Cafe class were the beau tifull y m odi fied No rton of Mike Casling and one of t he rare Ducati Super Sports ridden by Bob Budschat. Mike and his Norton also figured in the Open GP, as he took second behind Greg :\IcRae's Yammie water pu mper. • Results in the Results Section. T·t·that's all, folks! This only seemed natural considering that he won the :\'1\IA Xationals he ld here last summer. Bryan blew the first moto and placed back in third while :\lark Shader captured the win . For the most part of the day :\lyerscough's major threat for the Overall was Brad Roberts. These two were dicing together just for fun 'cause Brad was actuallv entered in the 100 Juniors where he soloed the class. Roberts would explode to the front of the pack but would eventually get za pped by the rapid Honda. It wen t on • like that straight to the third moto. Results in Results Section. High School MX? Doss, riding a 250 Husky, took the early lead, followed by Smith on a 125. Riding hard. Smith tried every trick in the book to get past. He went inside , he ro cketed off berms. When the white flag cam e out, Doss was still in the lead. Going up the hig hill, Smith out-dragged the 250 and edged into first and held it. Round one to Smith. The second moto was a little less climatic, with Smith taking the lead after a couple of laps. lie left Doss to battle an inspired Terry Turner, on another 125 Elsinore. Turner got past Doss but there was no wav he co uld catch Smith: round two to S~ ith. During t he third moto, Smith see med to be eas ing back, taking fou rth at the start 'a nd leisu rely wo rki ng his way up. His task was mad e easier wh en Turner los t his chai n.
