Rick won this one. The next moto looked like a replay until they went over a small hump side by side. Chuck hit the tires at the edge and went out of sight totally out of control. No one was surprised at the cloud of dust until Chuck came back into view and it turned out to be Rick who went down. It's a rare sight to see Rick crash and he was dropped out of contention by the time he got around. Chuck took the win with Bill Cook (Mai ) second. Burgett fared better in the Open Pro as he battled with Cook. Dan Wilgus (Yam ) was a threat in the first race until he threw a chain and crashed to sit out the rest of the day with a dislocated ankle. It was 102 on the degree scale for today's last day time running of Pioneer Arena. Starting June 8, the short track series starts up on Saturday nights and it will be a welcome. On a warm spring night Cliff Hylton of Chi co, riding out of H&H Cycle Sales, made his first appearance on his Noguchi Yarna- Teddy Davidson and Danny Mills were up to their usual shenanigans in the 125 Expert class. Dear Mom: See you at the SUPERBOWL Love Herman At the start of the event Peterson had taken the lead on his Bill Brownell prepared Ducati and started to lengthen his lead over Jeff Damon (BuI). Meanwhile, Hubbard and Hylton were carving their way up through the pack after both riders got back of the pack starts. Hubbard (Yam) passed into second halfway through the race with Hylton right behind him and the two riders started to shorten Peterson's lead. On lap four Hylton took second when Hubbard went wide into turn one and then inherited the lead when Peterson pulled off of the track with bike problems. Hylton went on to win, Hubbard was second with Brad Johnson (B ul) third. In the other 250 Expert race of the night, the Handicap Main, Paul Meyer on a Cooper jumped to the lead followed by Matt Jackson (Bull and Bob Grant (Yam). Meyer, the winner of the 250 Novice class (which let him ride in this event) continued to lead for three laps until his inexperience ca ught up with him. Bob Grant took over the lead as the hree rid ers started to pull away from the rest of the pack. Meyer started to drop back as Mike Free man (Bul) passed him to take third place . At the finish line it was Grant first, Jackson sec o nd with Fr eeman third. The 200 Junior/Expert Handicap seem ed lik e it would never get started as there were two restarts, once when Jeff Fowler j um p ed the nag and another when there was a first tum crash. When they finally did get the event running, John Williams took the lead followed by Bruce McMorrow and Tom Cantrell, all three B ul taco mounted. Williams co n tin ue d to lead but McMorrow and Can trell were both passed by John Alves (Can-Am) and Jeff Fowler (Kaw). Riding in the 250 Expert Scratch event Hylton scored a tremendous win after passing Jim Hubbard and Don Peterson on the same lap .
