Brad moving Sylvain Geboers up to second spot, but his Suzuki teammate, Roger DeCoster, was quickly moving up and passed him, trying to catch Van Velthoven for the lead. Van Velthoven rode quite consistently, keeping the lead until the end, but Roger was gaining on him the whole race to finish second. Brad Lackey and Willi Bauer were having a good dice in seventh a nd eig hth position . Brad passed Bauer three-quarters of the way through the race then, as Brad tired, Bauer passed him back and they finished in that order. This G .P . d id not count for points, so m a n y of the 250 Grand Prix riders did not attend. Jim Pomeroy was in France racing an International race and Hakan Andersson is still recovering from his broken wrist, as Sylvain Geboers took the wel l-deserved o verall win with a co nsistent ride . Heikki Mikkola could very well have been the overall winner after taking the first rnoto easi ly on his fac tory 250 Husqvama, but he sprained his ankle in the first moto and was unable to ride the second. Somewhere on t he back section of the tigh t, narrow course Va n Ve lthoven and Boven got hy Weil, but jus t as fast as they had gone by Weil, Boven smoked Jaak's factory monosho ck Yamaha down the roughest , fastest straightaway and pulled a lead of about four seconds. Boven kept the lead for four or five lap s until the rear suspen sion broke an d h e retired. During thi s tim e , Adol f Weil cra shed and fell back in th e p ack.
