Junior Scratch Main afte r a restart when all but two riders went down in the first turn. McKinney and his Penton won with a big lead ove r the rest of the pack. Dale Melhloff was second followed closely by Mik e Freeman, bo th o n Bultacos, Bru ce Mc1\lorr ow took th e lead at the start of th e 20 0 Junior Handicap Main. McMorrow an d his Bult aco co ntin ued t o len gthen th e ir lead every lap. But halfway through the ten lap event McMorrow fell in the second tum and Yamaha ri de r Cliff Hylton took th e win. John Al ves (Bul) was secon d followed by Del Becker in thi rd on his Honda. The 25 0 Junior/ Expert Handicap race was tw el ve laps long an d Gr eg McKinney was in th e lead at t he en d fo r his second win of the ni ght. Gr eg Ferguson's ba d lu ck t his n igh t co ntin ued in th is race as he flipped in fron t of the grandst ands when he hit a rider he was attem p tin g t o pass. Ma tt J ackson (Bu l) was second wi th Den nis Fri sbie (Ya m ) in Mark Brels ford's o ld lea t hers in third. As we all know, Brad Lackey wen t on to bigger and better things, but Champion Ra cew ay went about as far as so meo ne tryin g to kick start a Bultaco after a fal l: no p lace. J im Turner worked u p a lea d and was first at the flag fo llow ed by Dan Turner, who w as ab le to work his w ay up to second . Ron Se lf co u ld o nly manage a third o n his Penton. Dan Turner made sure he d idn 't blow the start in the second m ota as he was right on Jim Turners rear fender all the way up th e sta r t hill . For the few laps the tw o T urne rs were very far a u t in fro n t. T hen before he kn ew wh at hap pened Dan stuck his wheel und er Jim's and that wa s t he la st Jim Turner saw o f the blonde-h aired Husk y rider. Overall it wa s Dan Turner, Jim Turner second Ove rall and Nei l Ma c Oonald third. The 125 Expert class again fea t u red Dan T urner as t he man who was first a t th e pay window . Turne r had a good race going wi th Cloyse Ho llan d (H us) . In both motos the t wo Hu sky pilots we re w ay o ut fro nt banging bar s t hrough the t urns. As it was in t he 250 class, Turn er pulled away fro m his team m ate at th e end of the race.
