Brewer J r. (Yam) was next, but better yet, he was second Open Amateur and he had been running twenty-ninth Overall through the pits. A couple of places later, the screaming sound of Bruce Ogilive's 100 Harley was heard as he pulled in for second trail. Only one rider separated Ogilive from the first 250 Amateur, Stephen Greenberg (Suz), who had been running first Overall Amateur at twelfth Overall through the gas area. The second 250 Amateur was Tom Bullock (Yam), who last ye ar had p icked up one of his transfers towards Amateur in the Red Dots' ra ce and came back this year to get one towards Expert. Th ree 100s we re in the top twenty-two Overall at the fin ish, giving y o u some idea on how rough the course was. The third 100 was ridden in by this year's Number One Trail, Larry Roeseler (H-D). Not too far behind Roeseler, was the second 175 Expert Bruce Kude, And right behind him was the first Amateur in this class, Max Eddy (Ya m ). Bob Wadlow (CZ) seem s to have the Novice class under control, as he picked up his second in a row Overall Novice win. Both the fi st and second Novices r were seated on two and halfs. Ed Rodine (CZ ) was the other. Tim Henry's 175 Yamaha worked hard to keep up with the bigger bore CZs of Wadlow and Rodine ; he was first in h is class. The first Open.Novice didn't reach the finish until six other Novi ces had.C. Harris (Hus) didn't care since he got the class win. Kathy Anglin decided that since she had to go only one loop, she may as well win her Powder Puff class, and that she did. According to several riders, this was the rough est course so far this year. Missing course markers added to the disappearance of several riders who had been running way up in t he front th roug h t he pits.
