While reading yo ur tes t o n th e Montesa VR 250 (Cycle News April 3 0, 19 74), I stumbled upon these lin es; "Surprisingly, it so me t imes took three o r four kicks to get it to ligh t off when it w as hot. This irregular it y can be cured by simply tur n i ng off t h e f u e l p et c o ck prem aturel y and le tting th e en gin e run for several seconds before sh utting it off . T hen , when you wa nt to kick it t o life agai n , th e thing w ill start firs t or second kick. T he reasons beh in d this are basic, b ut they so metim es get lost in th e confus io n. For, wh en th e engine is very " hot, th e level in th e float b o wl o f the carbureto r tends to " p ercola te" up th ru th e main jet and em ulsion tu be. T his is straig ht gasoli ne, n o t fuel , (a com bi natio n of atomi zed gasoline an d air), so th at whe n the engine is off, an overly rich charge sets it self u p to be injested at th e next prod o f th e kickstar t lever.
