Hereare thelatest results. When Honda introduced its first two-stroke, the Elsinore'" CR-250M, early in 1973, it immediately established its winning ways. With different riders aboard, the CR-250M won the National AMA, the Trans AMA 250cc Motocross Cha mp ionships and the prestigious Superbowl of Motocross in Los Angeles. That could be why Motorc yclist named it "o ff-roa d motorcycle of the year." Shortly after the b ig Elsin ore's introduction, Honda brought out its younger brother-the CR-125M Elsin ore. Riders in the 125cc class who wanted a lightweight, powerful and dependable motocrosser at a great price started racing the 125. And, as nov ice and e xpert race results fro m all over the country testify, the y also started w inning. But Honda didn't stop w ith two of the lightest, most powerful two-stroke motocrossers on the market; they wanted that superior twostroke technolog y to reach a w ider audience. Result : the MT-125 and MT-250 Elsinore - twostroke enduros with on / off-road capabilities. The MT's are anything but mod ified CR s. Honda doesn't work that way. Instea d , they took the basic Elsinore engine and built around it two rugged enduro machines. Hea vy-d uty suspensions. Fla t, dirt-riding torque curves. Raised exhaust pipes. USDA-approved spa rk arrestor/mufflers. And w ider-ratio gearing for road as well as rough. The next two-stroke Honda introduced was for the benefit of younger enthusiasts-the MR-50 mini-motocrosser. Co mpletely designed with the smaller rider in mind, the streamlined MR has special, easy-to-operate controls for sma ll hands and feet. And, for the safety of the young riders and the peace-of-mind of their parents, Honda developed a four-position, adjustable throttle stop so the maximum power output can be set to the rider's ability.
