Wiseman wicked it wid e o pe n while the b ig t h rea t Dave Carlson (Han) was absen t. Brad Dutoit was also ou t to bag the loot. Wiseman and Dutoit bumped h e lm e ts and locked handlebar s in an a tt em pt t o win t he first mota and forme d ano ther Batman-Boy Wonder o r MeDougal-Pessy "D ynamic Du o." Their lead was T itanium strong un til Du to ir 's Mission Honda ca me to the slings ho t swee per and then scra m bled its 19 .7 H.P . innard s and j ust flat stopped strokin'. As Du toit started push in' th e thing off the tr ack, and Wiseman sailed to vic to ry . Norm Bigelow and Allan Tilford gassed their six speed Hondas a lit tle slower to th e finish . Wiseman at this poi nt was already the undisputed winner but he still decided to rough 'em up and swept the sec ond mota win over Tilford and Bigelow. The final three star sh owdown was far more co m pet itive ' cause all of a sudden Bigelow was o n th e boots o f Wiseman and hee led him to th e wave o f th e chec kered flag over T ilford. Ou t o f this three man di ce the 125 Ex pe rt money was given t o Rick Wisem an, Norm Bigelow and Allan Til ford. Bob Quintin w as on th e warpath in th e 125 Junior class an d loo ked lik e the troph y w inner each m o ta as he led Fred Miller and Rick Wood to th e results. Superfun MX By Tom Corley ORANG E, CA L. , FE B. 9 The fast est motocrossing to ta ke place Saturday at Saddleback Park began with the start of the 250 and 500 Expert combined battle. It was a struggle for Maico-rnau ler Mike Yorb a (who just last week diced with Jim Weinert) 'cause he 34 had to soar up the Saddleback startin g hill along with h ot shots Terry Trach y , Drew Nelson, J ack Phillips and Jerry Trojnar. Yorba, o n a 500 cla ss Maico, hooked a startling lead over his main competitor Drew Nelson, 250 Expert at first and co n tr o lled it fo r about two laps in on e moto, Then wit h jet-propulsion power Nelson's YZ ex p lo ded and moved up fo r the first o ve ra ll standin g. N elson was so co n fiden t th at he was in co m man d o f the money th at he wen t wid e on o ne co mer which is w ell known fo r crashes and th rew a ro ost on tw o o f his buddies. AI Per ez (Bu l) turned in a so lid d ay in th e sad d le, winning th e 125 -1 75 Veteran class. T he fin al score was clo se, with David T ho m pson (Ya m) settl in g fo r While th e Sandak Racing Association is operating the flat track and TT program, th e Racin g Association of C ycl e Enthusiasts is r unning the motocross up o n th e hills. R.A.C .E., co nd uc ted by Dal e Teubner, runs a full program with three motos with the rider with th e best overall poin t total taking th e top position . The Junior classes su p p lied much of the acti on wi th Honda-mounted Eddie Clark, one of the t op Juniors at Corona, t ak ing th e 125 cc division. Clark dom in a ted the field as he captured all three motos. T o m Burt rode his Honda Elsin ore t o a second pla ce finish overall with fin ishes of second , third, and four th . Yamaha-mounted George Forte took th e third spot overa ll. In th e 250 Junio r class, Nick Simmons rep eated his last show ing a t Cor ona, as he rode his l\laico to the win in all three motos. Sunny Wilson , aboard a Bultaco, fini shed se cond with two second place finish es and a third . Husqva rn a -moun ted Paul Stenbo ro und ed o u t t he t op three positions. The p rofessional classes were also domin ated by tw o riders with Dav id { Williams ridin g his Penton to the overa ll victory in the 125 Senio rs and Ray Topham taking his Maico to the top spot in th e 25 0 pro division. • Results M INI C YC L ES : 1.
