CAL.• F EB. 2 The second CMC Ascot Half-mile and TT courses consisted of fifteen even ts, five differen t classes. With the hot Weather this week , the track was fairly slick. The Half-mile wasn 't too ' bad but the TT course was so mething else. In both the 125 TT and the un d e r-2 0 0 Half ·mile, i t was Kawasa k i-m oun ted flying Mike Min ning all the way . Mike started the afternoon ~y m o vin g from third to firs t in the three lap 125 IT heat. Mike j ust go t b y Eddie Lawso n (Yam) o n the last lap . He came bac k in the Half-mile heat an d wen t fro m start to finis h o ut fron t with La wso n in th e number tw o spot. On th e TT co u rse, aga in it was Minn ig an d Lawso n lead ing all th e way. T he 200 Half-m ile Main lo oked like a reru n until T roy Fis he r (Kaw) ca me fro m nowhere to grab second a nd th en. two laps later . first. Fis her kept Minn ig beh ind him o n ly o ne lap a nd the checkered went to Minnig wi th Fish e r an d La wson righ t o n his back. In the 250 Half-m ile , th e first hea t we nt to Scott Marsha ll (Yam ) with Tom Ber ry (Ya m ) followi ng . In the sec ond hea t. it was Vince Mead in the lea d . Dave Pessy (Han), wi th nothing but d eterm ina tio n o n h is sid e, was runni n g in the top th re e all afternoon on kn obb ies, T hen. in the Main , Dave co uldn' t ge t his bi ke off the starting line and en ded up well o ut of t he m oney.
