scrambles are flourishing. In past years, a majority of the hotshoes came from District 37 scrambles tracks. Just to name a few, Terry Dorsch, Eddie Mulder, Keith Mashburn, Tom Rockwood, Dave Smith, Gary Scott, Danny Hockie, Dave Aldana, et aI. A very impressive list but, unless we can generate more in terest in this district, Northern Californians are going to take over. They're already doing a pretty good job of it! District 37, at times, is getting bogged down in desert rna tters and desert clubs far outweigh the scramblers and motocross boys at our competition meetings. The ratio is about five to one. But if the desert is lost, where are they going to ride? They may have to tum to track events whether they like it or not and clubs who gave up throwing scrambles will fmd themselves doing it again. Looking into the future, one can see all kinds of possibilities, and we hope they never come abou t, so I remind you again. When your help is requested to attend competition meetings or write your representatives, pitch in. • AMA 1974 MX schedules application deadline extended JOIN THE EXcmMENTWITH E KYA/KYA-FM OP ERIC MOTOCROSS CLASSIC After reviewing the recommendations and resolutions of the 1973 AMA Congress, racing coordinator Dave Welsh announced an extension of the application deadline for major 1974 motocross events from October 15, 1973, to November 15,1973.
