HRL Lubric.nts 7340 Florence Ave. Downey, Ca. 90240 213/927-4781 Fast Eddie Cole surprised everyone today at Muntz Cycle Park when he pulled out his shining new 250 Penton. Cole was scheduled to ride 125 Seniors but he changed events after getting the Penton yesterday. He demonstrated his skill by blowing off all the 250 and 500 Seniors on the unfamiliar bike. Eddie won the first mota hands down with the only resistance coming from a 450 Maico ridden by Don Hicks. who eventually took first money in the 500 class. John Pfeiffer (CZ) stayed ahead of Ernie Hendricks (Mai) to take a second in the first mota. In the second moto it was almost the same story with Cole leading Pfeiffer and Hendricks in second and third. After about six laps a CZ was trying to pass Hendricks around a tight tum and they collided. Hendricks lost a couple of places before he could get going again but the first tum he came to his chain fell off. John Wilder (CZ) moved up to third place and Pfeiffer held on to second place despite his rear tire being nearly flat. In the third mota Cole pulled out in front again with Mike Pucklus (Yam) and John Barkley (Mai) behind. The throttle on Pucklus' YZ began to stick. forcing him out. Wilder and Pfeiffer got past Barkley for second' and third places. Eddie Cole won overall. John Pfeiffer took second and John Wildcr was third. At the start of the first moto John Lanzarone (Mai) led the 250 Juniors until thc second lap when Wayne Edwards (CZ), who had worked his way up from fourth, passed Lanzarone. Edwards began to open up a lead until his pipe broke and began to melt his ignition wiring. Rick Miracle (CZ) moved past Edwards and took first with Edwards limping in for second and Chuck Herbert (Hon) slipping into third over Joe Swebert (CZ). Lanzarone began the second moto out in front again but was passed by Miracle before the first lap was over. Edwards was moving up fast but he tried too hard and bit the dirt. Miracle stayed in front for the rest.of the race with Herbert finishing second and Swebert third. John Lanzarone. wbo always gets a fantastic start, led Miraclc into the first turn in the last go but Rick worked by him in the first lap. Edwards began to put heavy pressure on Miracle until his luck caught up with him again and he fell letting two riders by. Miracle took first overall with Swebert second and Herbert third. Raymond Dane (Ric) was doing very well in the 125 Junior first moto, opening up a comfortable lead then in the fourth lap he crashed and ben t his shift lever. This let Richard See (Hon) move into first place where he stayed. Mark Lange (Hon) finished second on a Honda and Craig Egerman (Yam) who had gotten off in the mud came in third. Egerman decided to stay out of the mud and led from wire to wire in the second moto. Richard See was a little farther back and Mike Pillar (Yam) came in third. Egerman went all the way again in the third moto with Richard See and Mark Lange coming in second and third. Egerman took first overall, See was second and Lange third. • Motomud.
