GARDENA, CAL.,' July b ...: Five
Novice heats at .tonight's weekly Ascot
AMA program ran without a single
restart, which lately has become clok to
a sure thing. This week's program was
one of the most spill-free this season.
The fifth heat was the fastest with
Ron Tobey running away at 2:02.13 for
the five lapper. The third heat was the
most exciting Novice race in so~ time
with Randy Griffith winning after a
third row penalty line start.
The first Novice heat went to Dana
Perry, just edging out Alex Jorgensen.
Heat number two went to Bob Hosford
on his four-stroke Honda. The fourth
heat was the second fastest with Pat
Evans getting the win over Nick Nazzisi.
With most of the local Experts
traveling to Colorado Springs, from
what has to be called the hest dirt track
National ever, last weekend at San Jose
the local Juniors h ad the opportuni ty to
race against those Experts who were still
in town.
Making it two in a row DeWayne
Keeter showed that he is worthy of his
National number. Keeter and his Harley
were the fastest duo around as they set
fast time, won the dash, and won the
Main. The only thing he didn't win was

The second heat was won by rookie
Expert Ron Powell who kept his cool

who is really a hard charger.
With the heats over the Novices were
given their last chance for the Main with
ten riders going from the Semi to the
Main. The Semi winner, Alex Jorgens<;n,
was to come out a few minutes later and
win the Main. Nick Nazzisi ran second
