Practice at ten found a riot-as-many-as-expected turnout with the big road race being run back East. However, that made it all the easier to go fast. After the practice, rider's mee ling was held and everyone got to get in his commen Is before the action began. One comment was, "The outside of the course has loose sand on it!" A reply from another rider went, "So don't ride on the outside!" And the meeting broke up with instructions to the side hacks to get ready to go first. The team of Hummer/Gilbransen on a Harley-Dee took the win in this event hut not after chasing some of the other teams to get that lead. The race went for six laps and I'm sure that after 72 comers the monkey was just a bit-tired. Some real exciting speed took place on this one. Allen Barbie on a 350 Yamaha won the 350-0pen GP class. In second was Dennis Pigelow on a 750 Honda. Third was Humphurs also on a 750 Honda. Allen completely pulled away from the rest of the field during this eight lap event. In the 0-200 GP event, Dave Scott dominated the race aboard his 125 Yamaha while Barbie had to settle for a second place finish. The third place went to AI Geissler on his 200 Yamaha. The 250 GP again had Allen Barbie winning against Tom Bright. Try as he might to catch the first place leader, Tom just couldn't get it to happen. The weather was perfect for road racing, and only one accident of any consequence occurred during the 500 when a rider lost it on' a comer and a fire started, cuttinR short the race. ,
