One went to John Cunningham' and the other went to Steve Corcoran. About ten o'clock four riders drew numbers for position in the Scratch Main. The pole position was Cunningham with Stetler getting inside. Dale tetler couldn't get his machine to start and was left out of the line up at the start after the two minutes were up. The start saw a pile-up on the Hrst corner and a re-start was called. Meanwhile, Dale came out on the track, ushered in with the roar of the crowd. But the officials decided that the rider had already been.given two minutes and so was disqualified allover again, The crowd didn't Like it too much. The Scratch Main finally got started, and J obn Cunningham took the lead from the start, hdd it all the way with some superb slides in the comers and wen t on to win the final event of the evening.
