type thing for English Trials riders of
this coun try?
One of the all-time classic quips was
heard from Mr. Ken Ruby as his raffle
ticket was drawn for the give away of
three brand new Trials machines from
the differen t Spanish factories.
He walked up to the announcer and
said. "I've lived a sin-free life." as he
took possession of a brand new Bultaco
350 Sherpa T and motored off into the
setting sun.
The whole story of the day, though,
was Sammy Miller. 'He picked, bounced,
and finessed his way through the
extremely difficult exhibition sections
while close to two thousand people
literally hung on his every move.
Whenever he successfully rode through a
particularly hard area, a loud roar wen t
up from the en thusiastic observers.
This one appearance by the living
legend has done more for the sport of
English Trials than a thousand of this
custom frames could every do. All
motorcycle enthusiasts in the United
States and especially Southern
California owe him' a great deal of
thanks. His performance today will be
long remembered.
