New in the detail department are
locks on everything. The seat, gas cap,
forks, and ignition all use the same key
- an improvement over the DS-7 which
had two keys.
Change is not always for the better.
The motorcycle industry has gotten to
the poin t where every new year must be
accompanied by 'a new model for each
displacement category throughout the
line. Since the motorcycling public is
generally knowledgeable, the industry
tries to provide technical innovations
with each year. In the case of the 250
Yamaha engine. well enough should
have been left alone. The rest of the
package is as good or better than
previous models, bu t the engine while a
good unit in many respects is not as
good, except for the buyer interested
primarily in power, as the previous
models.
Yamaha has gone from one piece mufflers to.
two piece. Ours leaked. However, they would
be cheaper to replace and perhaps easier to
work on.
