by William Metzelaar TRABUCO CANYON, CAL., Nov. 19, 1972 - 1t had just rained the day before at Escape Country so the track had hath good solid tractable sections as well as mud bogs. Starting with the first race we find the mini-Enduros attempting to scamper around the slippery course. Gary Tamietti riding a Honda won all three mini races which is why he is now racing in the Expert class. In the 100 race Novice Gregg Weston atop a Yamaha was first in each race. ' As the sun fought it's way through the clouds we find Neal Wyckoff won the 125 Amateur on a Yamaha although a Novice named Robert Williams on a Suzuki was in the lead in all three races. In the 250 Amate.ur Ron Boozell flying a CZ won. In the Expert Kevin Bushmeaer (CZ) won the day's races as well as $20. The cash ough t to help cover the cost of Kevins Breakfast Squares. I was unable to obtain any lap times but the difference in time between the 250's and the Open class must have heen very small. The course requires a bike that is light and handles well. Lance eventually won this class overalL Next was the 4-6HP rac~rs, ~oolWood came out on top ag,?n WIth Bobby only baving two pomts separation from him. In the 7 & over HP event, Richard Arnold clean sweeped all three motos; and that was it for the days run on all Mimbikes. We had a rather small Powder-Puff class today, with Honda Mounted Renee Payne doing her wh,eeJie starts off the line, riding for Mission Honda and Terri McQueen righ t on her fender riding for Honda Factory. There were two 10 & under Stock classes today, with Jeff Jones. Reid Randell taking home the trophies. The 11 & Over S tack class seems to be growing with three classes today, In the first, Glenn McCarroll wiped au this compe titian with Joel Cardenas receiving second over-all. The second class presented Lance Moorwood and Kelly Moran fighting it out for first over-all and a trophy - this time Kelly won the batLie by 10 points. The last class of Pure Stockers was won by Jeff , _ Those of you wno are registered racers at Escape Country should have received or will be receIving an informative newspaper. The ''Trabuco Tribune" is a good way of learning' of what's happening at Escape Country. ~------- Bomstein, one of our old buddies at the Dunes, The race of the day wen t to the racers in the 10 & Under class. This bec.ame an oohing and awing race from the spectators, as they saw Matt Whiting whip through the pack and come out on top. The Experts were scored separately - Leaving brother AJ. the over-all win in the Expert class. Ricky Ry"an ran away with the 0-75cc Mod. last class of 10 & Under. The first 11 and over class was a fight to the finish between Bill Jewett, Mike Minning and Bobby J ones, and they finished in that order. The second class showed us pure battle between Jim Renwick and Mike Harnacker and not far behind in third spot was Bobby Smith. In the next class, Donny Faulkner and Jim Holly were really on each other battling for first. place. Donny got a bad start off the line in the first mota but managed to pull up to second position. Donny won out against Jim with this 2-1-1 victory, leaving Jim with second over-all. The last class of 11 and over (Mod.) ride,rs showed the spectators a new face, namely Robert Goodwin on his unbeJieveable Honda, sweeping this class like a breeze. Lance Sloane pulled through with three consecu tive seconds. The one class that never fails in exc.itement is the 76-120 class. Once agam, Robert Goodwin ran away with this class, Bobby Jones gave Robert a ,good run for his .Trophy, but was only able to conquer a wen deserved second. Congratulations to Lance Moorewood in the Stock Trophy Dash; and Robert Goodwin in the Modified Trophy Dash - which all the racers are anxiously waiting for at the end of the days racing. -------------,--'
